John,
I am deeply saddened to learn of your dad's passing. I've known Jack for nearly 50 years. In fact he worked for me briefly before going tothe Journal and then the PD. I always enjoyed my friendship with him. We both mutually covered high school sports events in Lorain County and always had a cordial relationship with him. I also worked along side of him at many Ohio state tournaments. We shared a lot of laughs over the years and I always considered him my friend even though he worked for rival newspapers. I will remember him fondly for years to come.

Jack was a good friend for many, many years. We used to go to 'breakfast' after covering basketball or football on Friday nights. It gave us a chance to talk about the night's game and just shoot the breeze. Enjoyed those times a lot. Of course, when Gene Legeza was still alive, the three of us and anyone else that cared to join us would all be there. I'm gonna miss him. Wish I had one more chance to meet him on a Friday night again. God Bless his family.

Mr. (Mike) McDermott,
I totally remember you talking about your brother and his work at the Lorain Journal when I was your student at Prospect School (5th grade). It sounds like he made significant contributions, both personally and professionally. I was most touched by the mention of his love for his grandchildren and his work with the Special Olympics. My condolences to your brother's extended family and to you.

Was so sorry to hear about Mr.McD. I know it's been a while since I've seen you all. I did enjoy all the time I spent with you all, way back in the day. Mr.McD was a great guy, father, and husband. Hello McDermott Family- We were deeply saddened by the news of Jack passing away. Those years we had together as he covered the Shoregal Basketball Teams were super. Jack was so enthused about our program and he loved to interview my girls. They were always looking for him after a game and were disappointed if he actually had to go cover another team! He was a true friend to me during those years. We loved the stories he wrote about our teams, so accurate and his words brought back vivid images of the game. I am going to the scrapbook now to look at some of the stories.
