Ali L Marr
December 15, 1989 - July 14, 2021
Ali Lynné Marr was born to Susan and John on December 15, 1989, in Amherst, OH. Her heart was in Ohio, where she lived her entire life. As soon as she could talk, Ali was singing her own songs. She embraced the silly, the colorful, and the weird, which made her the most fun big sister in the world. She spent wildly fun days with her sister, stepsister, and cousin; together, they caused chaos as “The Girls.” To her favorite person in the world, Papa Marr, she was his “Little Tomato.” After graduating high school, Ali became a certified State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA). Most recently, she worked for the Avon Schools. Her life’s work was expressing herself through art. Ali’s passion was designing her own unique and meaningful tattoos, especially ones dedicated to people and pets she loved the most. She adorned her walls with the bright colors of diamond paintings, latch hooks, and puzzles. A talented writer and poet, Ali started her masterpiece series, “9 Mile,” in high school. She edited and published it online in 2020. She reveled in live music and diligently curated a massive digital music library over her life. Ali’s happy place has always been Cedar Point. She was deeply invested in her Pokemon community, passing along her lifelong love of play, imagination, and Pokemon to her son, Zayne. Ali found peace on July 14, 2021 at the age of 31. She is survived by her son Zayne Robert Marr, who made her smile the most; father John Marr and stepmother Susan Vasu-Marr ; Mother Susan Barnes and stepfather Jeff Barnes; sister Anna and partner Mark; stepsiblings Robb and Melanie; many, many aunts, uncles, and fun cousins; and feline old lady, Tawnee Marie. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ethel and Robert Marr, Clarice and Edward Scherach; and her beloved pets Kitcat, Elmo, Annie, and best friend Scooter. Ali will always be remembered for her courage to stay true to herself during difficult times and how she made us laugh. Ali was everything, and we will be singing her songs forever. Her sensitivity and individuality was not always understood and accepted. For her, we must continue to educate ourselves to reduce stigma around mental illness. A private service was held under the direction of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dovinreberjones.com In Ali’s memory, please make donations to “To Write Love on Her Arms,” a nonprofit dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide.
