Michael Farrell Rennie
September 16, 1963 - May 2, 2022
Michael F. Rennie Owner of M&R Truck Service If you are reading this, I can no longer fix your truck – please call my buddy, Zack. Michael Farrell Rennie, age 58, of Wellington, passed away on May 2, 2022 in the comfort of his home from a three-year battle with cancer. Born on September 16, 1963 in Amherst, he was the son of William F. and Mary C. (nee Finnegan) Rennie. As a young boy, Mike worked for Baumann Orchards. After graduating from Firelands High School and the Lorain County JVS in 1982, he followed his father’s footsteps and began his career as a diesel mechanic. He worked for Heisler’s Truck Sales & Service in Norwalk, Ohio from the day after graduation until 1996. In 1997, Mike pursued his passion and opened his own business, M&R Truck Service, in New London, Ohio where he worked until his passing. Mike was one of the hardest working and generous people you will ever meet. He worked 7 days a week for his family, friends and customers. Even on holidays – if a truck had to be fixed, it was fixed! Also known as “BIG MIKE” to many, he was a very proud father who loved watching his daughter, Melissa, play softball - especially behind that plate at THE Ohio State University. At Buckeye Field, his special seat was always reserved. Anyone who met Mike was sure to find out that his son-n-law, Drew, kicked footballs for the Scarlet & Gray. When not working or watching ball, he enjoyed collecting John Deere tractors, sprint car racing and tractor pulls. Survivors include his caring wife Michele (nee Zlatkowski); daughter, Melissa (Drew) Basil, of Upper Arlington; 10 month old granddaughter, Rennie Marie Basil; mother, Mary C. Rennie (Jerry Burrer) of Wakeman; brothers, William J. (Margie) Rennie of Wakeman and Richard (Kathi) Rennie of Vermilion; aunt, Diane Wagoner; uncles, Jim Finnegan, Mike (Sue) Finnegan, Pat (Carol) Finnegan; nieces, Christina, Kellie and Rachael Rennie; father-n-law, Jerry Zlatkowski and shop dog, Thunder and grandpups, Maxwell and Bristol. Mike was preceded in death by Father, William F. Rennie, paternal grandparents, William A. and Gladys Rennie, maternal grandparents, Farrell and Gertrude Finnegan; mother-in-law, Alice Zlatkowski and many canine companions. Friends will be received on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 9:00 – 11:00 am at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio. Services will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 am in the funeral center. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dovinreberjones.com The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and staff of the The James - OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center who allowed him an additional 8 months of the life he loved. “Put her in the wind – buddy”
