Robert "Andy" Watring

Andy Watring, age 64, of Elyria, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019, at Ames Family Hospice House. He was born on October 23, 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio. Andy is the son of the late Robert V. Watring and Dolores C. (Paugh) Watring. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Valerie K. (Bailey) Watring as well as by his only daughter, Jennifer (Chris) and grandchildren, Cadence, Marley, and Avery. Andy is also survived by three younger sisters, Sandra (Scott) Smith, of North Royalton, Pamela (Jim) Confer, of Brunswick, and Debra (Rob) Manning, of Zanesville. Andy was a Heidelberg College graduate of 1977 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Andy was part of the Excelsior Fraternity and the college football team. He also played football as a Blue Devil and graduated from Brunswick High School with the class of 1973. Andy was employed as a newspaper editor and reporter; he worked as a fraud investigator; he performed with precision on CNC machines; he crafted custom wood molding and furniture. He also worked as a Range Safety Officer until his retirement. Andy was an avid wood craftsman, he enjoyed model trains and constructing model cars. Tractors and classic cars were also hobbies. Andy recently constructed obstacle courses for Radio Controlled trucks. Andy wished to be cremated. The family is planning a visitation from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
