With his family surrounding him with love, Rudolph “Pawie” Katkic, passed peacefully into heaven on Sunday, December 12, 2021. Rudy lived his life with loyalty, honor, and devotion with the best sense of humor you can imagine. He was a tried-and-true family man who inspired kindness and generosity in all who were lucky enough to know him.Rudy was born in Lorain, Ohio, to parents Stephen and Mary (Sudetic) Katkic. He was a lifelong resident of Lorain and graduate of Lorain High School. After high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Korean War veteran. Rudy enjoyed playing baseball and softball for several local teams in his younger years. Rudy worked at the Ford Plant in Lorain for 30 years as a stock checker. Retirement allowed him time to travel with his wife in both the United State and Europe and play many rounds of golf. The weekends, especially Sundays were filled with family gatherings at the lake house, swimming in the summer, and cheering for the Indians, Cavs, and Cleveland Browns. He also entertained the family playing the harmonica or accordion!Rudy will be deeply missed by his true love and wife of 64 years, Myrtle, 5 daughters: Ellen (Alfred) DiFilippo, Delma (Marvin) Sosinski, Brittania (Richard) Szalay, Tittania (Ron) Udovich, and Pansy (Bill) Dixon. Sixteen grandchildren: Jack (Dawn) Sosinski, Tanya (T.J.) King, Joe (Lori) Sosinski, Kyle (Michelle) Dixon, Charles (Tonya) Deichler, Adam (Shari) DiFilippo, Amy DiFilippo, Jenny Dickens (Scott Bower), David Sosinski, Tammy Deichler, Bobby (Becky) DiFilippo, Traci (Joe) Swantek, Mandi Myser, Molly DiFilippo, Mindi (Ian) Husk, and Laura Dixon (Javad Davari); and 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. A brother Joe Katkic and sister Mary Jane Gessner along with several nieces and nephews.Rudy was predeceased by brothers: Steve, Mark, Ed, Charlie Katkic and sisters Ann Holowecky and Katherine Gill; parents Stephen and Mary Katkic.Private family services were held Sunday, December 19, and burial on Monday, December 20, with military honors under the direction of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center.
