Viola J. Rahl

Viola Rahl (nee Jauch), age 99 passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Kemper House in Strongsville, Ohio. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 10, 1919 to Joseph and Julia (nee Kolenc) Jauch and moved to Lorain in 1930. She was a graduate of Lorain High School with the class of 1937 B and was a member of the National Honor Society. Viola worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Frank L. Mramor and after he passed away she began working for Dr. Albert G. Letterman. During World War II, she worked in the metallurgical lab at US Steel for 2 years. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and gardening. She was a member of the Church of St. Peter, the Bible Study and the Faith Mission groups, and the I.D. K. Club. She is survived by her cousins, Sandra Kolenc, Rick and Stella Mayher, Randy Mayher; her step-family, Claudia Rahl, Courtney and James Harless, and Matthew Rahl; and many loving friends. Viola was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years,Claude, in 2012; parents, Joseph and Julia Jauch; brother, J. Henry Schlesinger; step-son, James Rahl; cousins, Carol and Dick Mayher; and granddaughter, Kailee Mayher. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, Ohio where Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center.
