Wilma Louise Pavlak
November 12, 1935 - June 2, 2022
Wilma Louise Pavlak (nee Harris), the youngest of 13 Harris children, was born in Ellsworth, Pennsylvania to John and Abigail Jane Harris on November 12, 1935. Wilma passed away on June 2, 2022 at New Life Hospice in Lorain, Ohio. Wilma and her husband David lived in Lorain County for most of the 67 years they were married, raising their 5 children in South Lorain in the Homewood neighborhood. While living there, Wilma was involved with the CYO as the girls coach at St. Johns elementary school on Grove Avenue and with the girls’ softball team at Southview High School where she was the official scorekeeper and cleaner of uniforms. Wilma and Dave’s house on East 37th street became the most popular place for the neighborhood kids to hang out with a swimming pool in the backyard and popsicles always being handed out to everyone who came over to their house to play or just hang out. She was known by many as their second mother. They were the coolest parents on the block. They never complained about their children playing their music too loud, because they played their old favorites just as loudly. She loved playing bingo, scratching her instant lottery tickets, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was always there to help anyone that needed it, and often dragged her husband along, since he was the driver. She even volunteered at St. Joseph Bingo in Amherst, even though she had no children or grandchildren going there. Wilma always said “love you bushels” to all her family and friends. Wilma leaves behind her husband of 67 years, David Richard Pavlak; son, David Joseph Pavlak and spouse Clint Rohrbacher of Elyria, daughters, Theresa Ann Trace and spouse Roberet Trace of Amherst, Phyllis Darlene Pavlak of LaGrange, Virginia Kathleen Langston and spouse Scott Langston of Oberlin, and son William John Pavlak and spouse Becky Pavlak of LaGrange, and many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Miraldi Hall at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 515 N. Leavitt Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001. Please com and enjoy our family favorite food and beverages, and we will try and prepare them as good as Wilma Did. We Love You Bushels, Mom! Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.dovinreberjones.com
