As good a man as I’ll ever know. Just the knowledge that Uncle Stan was at a gathering would rearrange my thoughts to make sure I spent time in his presence. Always a welcoming handshake, a smile and a genuine interest in how myself and my family was doing. He was a pillar in his immediate family, in our extended family and throughout the community. My condolences to all the Smigel family. Godspeed Uncle Stan. Let us all be a little more like you. 🙏❤️

The Smigel's moved next door to me when I was a kid, always remember Stan being a firefighter who worked a lot, always very nice. He and my dad bonded more after their wives passed away, he was a good neighbor. My late husband Rafael was a firefighter and always spoke highly of him, saying that Stan was one of the few who was nice to him when he was first hired. Stan was a legend on the LFD, and I saw him from time to time at the retirement parties. I think the last two times I saw him was at Rafe's funeral and my dad's 16 days later. I'm so sorry that I am going to be out of town for Stan's funeral; I was looking forward to seeing all of the "kids" who I haven't seen for many years. My sincere condolences to the entire family. Stan will be missed.
