Joanne, my mom sent me the Erie obituary. I am sorry to hear of Steves demise and particularly the process he took. We had some fun times together in nursing school, our joint airplane ownership and some general carousing. When we owned the 1946 Aeronca Chief while in nursing school. Mr flight instructor would harangue me for dragging out my landings. The plane had a problem with the idle speed so Steve kept adjusting it. Made for an exciting time when I tried to do some maneuvers , pulled the power back and the engine quit cold. In an airplane you need to pull the propeller to start. Tough at 2,000 feet in the air. Needless to say I landed successfully in a cow pasture, got invited in to the farmers house for strawberry shortcake. I called Steve ( all this was before cell phones of course) back at Mooreheadville Airpark. The guys said Steve almost broke his jaw when it hit the floor upon hearing my voice. He insisted on flying the bird out of the field but he never gave me grief about my landings after that.
After school we went our separate ways and only connected for a short time in North Carolina. I have intermittently attempted web searches for him but there are a lot of Face book Steve Palun sites. My condolences for your loss and the extended process I know it was.

Dearest Joanne.....My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Steve is finally whole again and serving Our Lord in Heaven. Please accept my apology as I tried very hard to get there Tuesday to hug you, but Dave wasn't having it...I'm sorry, but I know you understand. My thoughts and prayers are with you today and always.

Joanne and family,

Cheri and I were so sad to hear of Steve's passing. Steve was one of my best friends with many great memories during our Erie years. We did so much together. Our friendship grew from flight instructing to purchasing an airplane (or two) and flying across the country from Erie to San Diego to Mt. Rushmore to Oshkosh. Our 'nights on the town' and guitar parties will remain in my memory forever. Steve was a true blessing to so many people in many walks of lives and his legacy is one to be admired. May God's love for him and the joy he brought to his friends and strangers also bring you peace during a difficult time for you.

So sad to hear of the loss of Steve. He was a great guy and a great CRNA. Steve was a fellow CRNA at Elyria Anesthesia. Always happy and hardworking, we had many fun times working together. May their wonderful memories of all the happy times spent together, bring his family peace and comfort.

We mourn the loss of Stephen Palun. What a wonderful and talented man he was; caring, considerate, thoughtful; loving husband, father, and grandfather; friend to many people. Prayers and sympathy to Joanne and children Stephen, Jeff, and Laurie, and to his wonderful grandchildren. May God bless them especially for the loving, caring, and unending support they gave Steve throughout his illness.

Now we celebrate his life and all the memories of this good Christian man and thank God for him.

I am sending my deepest sympathy for the loss of Steve. I was a labor delivery nurse at Firelands Regional Medical Center and worked with Steve when he was giving anesthesia there. He was a great man who really loved his family..sharing photos and stories. I was so sorry when he got sick and had to leave.
