  • Superheroes of Nature Display
    Wednesday, March 21, 2018

    Holy nature-related superheroes, Batman! Come and see your favorite superheroes from the Marvel Comic Universe, the DC Comic Universe and more! All of your favorites like Batman, Spiderman, Black Panther, Black Widow, Groot, Ant-Man and more will be there. Learn about these and others' nature-related superpowers and namesakes. Superheroes of Nature Meet them all and discover new superheroes within the conservatory at Miller Nature Preserve through May 28. They will be amongst the plants and highlighting how some of them received their powers through nature or animals that we are familiar with. Other cool facts, origins, and powers will be revealed in this creative display. You will also discover some ‘animal champions’ worldwide and be surprised at their unique powers and how they are special to us. A photo scavenger hunt will be available as well as accompanying programs. Display open daily 10 am – 5 pm. $2 daily conservatory admission for those 42” and taller. Under 42” admittance is FREE. All hikes are part of the Lorain County Metro Parks hiking stick program for all levels. Read more

  • Spring Day of Caring 2018

    This year's Spring Day of Caring will benefit our friends and partners at El Centro and our 231 Go! Community Collaborative. Volunteers will meet at El Centro on Saturday, May 19th at 8am for light refreshments and coffee. Volunteers will disperse to multiple projects at and around El Centro and work until about 11:30am before returning to El Centro for lunch. Projects will include neighborhood street cleanups, minor landscaping, and painting. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, and be prepared to have a lot of fun! This project is a partnership between our Lorain County Volunteer Connection and Leadership Lorain County.     2018 Walk to Remember Only 76 days until Celebrate Life! Sunday, June 10 Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Now in its seventh year, Hospice of the Western Reserve's 2018 Walk to Remember is our largest fundraiser, open to anyone wishing to honor and celebrate the memory of a loved one and to make a difference in the lives of those who are living with a serious illness. Registration is $12 for children, $25 for adults and $75 for family (includes two adults and three children ages 4-12, children 3 and under are free). This includes all-day admission to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Rainforest, snacks, entertainment and much more. Immediately following the Walk, we will host a special Closing Ceremony. Walkers will enjoy festivities, speakers, snacks and a video presentation. Don’t forget to e-mail a picture of your loved one to to be included in our Celebration of Life video presentation by June 6. Read more
