Catarino Y. Rodriguez

Catarino Y. Rodriguez, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 23, 2025, under the care of Western Reserve Hospice. He was born on September 25, 1945, in Lorain, Ohio, to Catarino A. and Dora (née Ybarra) Rodriguez. Catarino attended Admiral King High School and proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a member of the 101st Airborne Division Paratroopers. Following his military service, he dedicated 42 years of hard work as an assembler at Ford Motor Company. As a young man, Catarino was a member of the Chicano Club and always enjoyed being active and social. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Guardians and loved spending time golfing, bowling, and listening to music. A passionate baseball player and coach, Catarino found great joy in the game and the camaraderie it brought. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A true family man, Catarino was instrumental in raising his three grandchildren, often making countless trips to and from Cedar Point to bring them joy. His love for his family knew no bounds, and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Janet (née Blazina) Rodriguez; children, Raquel Rodriguez and Catarino J. Rodriguez; grandchildren, Ashley R. (Juan Gonzalez) Cordova, Adam Cordova, and Alexis (Thomas) Reyna; great-grandchildren, Gia Cordova and Nya Gonzalez; brother, Theodore “Shorty” Ybarra; and sisters, Elvira (Pablo) Morales and Juanita Mendosa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Catarino A. and Dora Rodriguez; sister, Elidia Gall; and brothers-in-law, Dennis Mendosa and Dale Gall. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral center. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Catarino’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
