Dwight Daniel Racioppo

Dwight Daniel Racioppo, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on June 8, 2023, at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, California. Dwight, age 80, resided in the city of Rancho Mirage, California. Born on February 9, 1943, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Dwight was the son of Daniel and Edith Dolores Racioppo (nee Flynn). From an early age, it was evident that Dwight possessed an exceptional intellect and a passion for knowledge. After graduating from Neshannock High School in 1961, he pursued higher education at Case Institute of Technology, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering in 1965. Dwight dedicated his professional career to the field of Information Technology, where his talents shone brightly. He worked diligently for esteemed institutions such as Cleveland State University, A.G. McKee, IBM, and ultimately retired from UNIVAR in 2013. His contributions to the IT industry were highly regarded, and his expertise and innovative thinking earned him the respect of colleagues and peers alike. Dwight was also a member of the MBCA (Mercedes-Benz Club of America) where he enjoyed the driving activities, Sigma Nu Fraternity, and the Association of Computer Machinery, further showcasing his commitment to his passions. Outside of his professional endeavors, Dwight embraced life's joys and pursued a wide range of interests. An avid traveler, he delighted in exploring new destinations and immersing himself in different cultures. Because of his interest in architecture, he pursued some level of home remodeling in each of the 9 homes plus one architecturally designed and built home. Dwight's curious mind found solace in the pages of science fiction books. Dwight adopted his first cat in 1976 and subsequently rescued 9 more over the years. He was observant and marveled at each cat’s individual personality. His rescue dog, Heidi, and he could be seen on many walks and discussions on what direction to take. He had an adventurous palate. With trepidation he would try his wife’s many cooking experiments as well as trying new restaurants. Additionally, Dwight was interested in the technological advances in cars and was always researching the results. He and his wife, Michelle, due to their careers, lived in 5 different states and have dear friends in all these states. Dwight is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, S. Michelle Racioppo (nee Adams); his daughter, Alexa Racioppo of Silver Spring, MD; Dwight's siblings, Vincent Racioppo of New Berlin, WI, and John Racioppo of Federal Way, WA, were not only his family but also his lifelong friends. He is also survived by his last 2 rescue cats, Damon and Fiona. Dwight Daniel Racioppo will be remembered as a remarkable man who made a significant impact on the lives of those around him. His dedication to his profession, his love for exploration and discovery, and his unwavering support for his family were testaments to his kind and gentle nature. As we mourn his loss, we find solace in the memories we shared and the legacy he leaves behind. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 N. Ridge Road, Amherst, OH 44001. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Dwight's name to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary (bestfriends.org), in Kanab, UT. The outpouring of love and support during this difficult time is deeply appreciated. May Dwight Daniel Racioppo's soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us to live our lives with passion, curiosity, and love.
