Lily Tibayan Yuzon
April 17, 1940 - April 16, 2022
Lily Tibayan Yuzon, 81, of Lorain, passed away on April 16th after a lengthy battle with cancer. Her spiritual strength and faith in the Lord gave her comfort and resiliency. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time she passed. Lily was born on April 17, 1940, the fourth of five daughters to Dalmacio and Maria (nee Lacadao) Tibayan in Mataas Na Kahoy, Batangas in the Philippines. She told fond stories of her childhood, playing in the coffee fields and farm with her sisters, Adoracion Aranez, Charity Lacqui, Melencia Sese, and Evelyn Recinto. Education and independence were a focus growing up, and Lily graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and a Master’s in Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Later in life, Lily received an Executive MBA at Case Western Reserve University. Lily’s adventurous and fearless nature took her on a solo voyage to the United States. She arrived in Hoboken, New Jersey where she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital. At work, she met the love of her life, Florencio E. Yuzon, MD. Lily and Flor were wed on November 30, 1965. Lily and Flor have four children: twins Maria Isabel Yuzon Hilliard (Carl) and Maria Teresa Yuzon (Daryl Davis), Lily Ann Reed (Timothy), and Florencio John (Lauren). Lily was the glue that held the family together: a nurturing and encouraging Mother and an untiring and supportive Wife. In 1974, Lily’s family moved to Lorain, Ohio. Inseparable, Lily worked with Flor as General Manager at his gastroenterology and internal medicine practice, F.E. Yuzon, MD, Inc. In later years, she became a Charter Member and on the Board of Directors at Buckeye Bank in Lorain. A passionate and compassionate person, Lily’s satisfaction was striving to uplift the Lorain community in which she lived. She participated in many community groups, events, and charities. Among the associations she held dearly: Leadership of Lorain, member of the Lorain County Community College Foundation Board, The Community Foundation of Lorain Community, Lorain Rotary Club, The Philippine-American Association of Lorain County. Some awards Lily received: Woman of Achievement Award and Daughters of the American Revolution. Grandchildren: Jordan Farmer (Kalie), Adrianna Wolfe (Bradley), Carl Hilliard Jr., Maximillian Reed, Florencio Connor Yuzon, Grayson Yuzon, Daryl Davis Jr. Great-Grandchild: Cora Farmer.
