Loretta Jean Rositano

April 10, 1956 - July 20, 2018

Loretta Jean Rositano (nee Born), age 62, of Lorain, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018 while under the care of Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain. She was born on April 10, 1956 in Lorain, to Albert E. Born and Geraldine Eileen Mitchell, and lived in Lorain her entire life. In 1975 she was crowned as an International Princess, representing the country of Belgium. Loretta is a 1974 graduate of Admiral King High School and then, proudly graduating with honors, earned her Bachelor’s Degree in 1978 from Bowling Green State University. While attending BGSU, she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She began her teaching career at Meister Road Elementary and before retiring after 30 years of teaching in Lorain City Schools, she was a Kindergarten teacher at Larkmoor. Loretta was a very active member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, and enjoyed volunteering for anything she could for her Church. When Loretta was not spending her time enjoying her greatest love, being with her family, she liked to photograph nature. She enjoyed many things in nature though and was an animal lover. You would always find her feeding the birds and deer or out in her garden. Loretta looked forward to traveling out west, and being able to see the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park were some of her favorites. She was also a huge supporter and avid cheerleader for all sporting events for both Lorain High School and Amherst Marion L. Steele High School. She could be heard cheering extra loud for Lorain High’s Athletic Teams and Amherst’s baseball team. In between her many hobbies and with extra time, she liked to settle in and read a good book. She is going to be missed dearly by her husband of 38 years, Dr.David A. Rositano, her children; Matthew Rositano and Lynne (Brandon Wilhelm) Rositano, and her granddaughter, Cecilia. She is also survived by her siblings; John (Lori) Born, Deanie (Frank) Shukait, Doug (Linda) Born, and Mitch Mitchell, as well as many nieces, nephews, and family members. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 4-8 pm, in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Her funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July24, 2018, at 9:30 am, at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Please meet at Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Contributions, in her memory, may be made to either of the following; The Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035, The Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, OH 44052, or to Storm’s Angels Companion Animal Rescue, PO Box 259, Lorain, OH 44052.
