Adrian Paul Abrahamowicz's Obituary
Adrian Paul Abrahamowicz born on October 3, 1971 in Lorain, Ohio to Donald and Kathleen (nee Ondo) Abrahamowicz passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022 after a courageous and hard-fought battle against cancer at the age of 50.
He was a 1989 graduate of Lorain Catholic High School and went on to attend Tiffin University where he played baseball for one season before joining the Marine Corps. When an injury forced him to return to school, he worked his way through college and graduated from Tiffin University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration. While his injury derailed his tenure in the Marines, it opened an opportunity for him to pursue his passion for baseball and coaching.
Adrian began his official coaching career in 2004 at Lorain Catholic High School and later coached at Elyria Catholic, Avon Lake, and Columbia High School. He also coached a collegiate summer team that won back-to-back Erie Shore Collegiate League Championships in 2004 and 2005. In 2007 he became the Oberlin College baseball recruiting coordinator and in 2011 he was promoted to head coach where he remained until his retirement this past May 2022. He had huge success with the Oberlin College baseball team leading them to a NCAC Championship and a NCAA Regional Appearance. In 2017 he set the school record for wins, and received the NCAC Coach of the Year honors in 2013. In 2014, Adrian started the Lake Erie Warhawks summer program and since then has placed over 200 players into college. In 2021 he merged his powerhouse organizations with T3 and served as the Director of 16-18U Teams and College Placement Coordinator.
The impact that Adrian made in young men’s lives was immeasurable. He not only taught them the fundamentals of the game, but he also taught them the meaning of teamwork and sportsmanship. He stressed the importance of working hard on the field and in the classroom. He had a great sense of humor that all his players enjoyed.
Of all of Adrian’s numerous accomplishments his family was his greatest. He was very grateful and proud to be a husband to Teresa, and father to Taylor, and Andrew.
Adrian is survived by his wife of 27 years, Teresa (nee Webber); daughter, Taylor Abrahamowicz, of Cleveland; son, Andrew Abrahamowicz, of Avon Lake; mother, Kathleen Abrahamowicz, of Lorain; brothers, Adam (Stephanie) Abrahamowicz, of Strongsville, and Paul Abrahamowicz, of Lorain; and his sister, Sarah (Matt) DiFilippo, of Vermilion.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Abrahamowicz, in 2017.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, OH 44001.
