Albert S Matyi's Obituary
Albert S. Matyi, age 71, of Amherst passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at his daughters home under the care of New Life Hospice.
He was born on February 20, 1944 in Lorain, Ohio to Frank and Sylvia (nee Casey) Matyi.
Albert made his career as mechanic working for Ed’s Transmission in Elyria for 47 years. He recently moved back to Amherst after living in Robbins, Tennessee for the past 5 years.
He was a member of the Amherst Eagles Club and enjoyed playing cards, fishing and bowling.
Albert is survived by his wife of 10 years, Judy (nee Kennedy) Matyi; his children, Michelle (E.J.) Bayus, Renee (Tommy) Kisel and Alan (Kim) Matyi; and his grandchildren, Alfie Reyes, Austin Bayus, Kelsey Matyi , Kyle Matyi and Hayleigh Kisel; and great grandson, Liam Gott.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia (nee Stembal) Matyi; his parents, Frank and Sylvia Matyi; brothers, Frank and Richard Matyi; and his sister, Roberta Comley.
The Matyi family will receive friends for a memorial gathering on Saturday, April 4, 2015 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Amherst.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made in memory of Albert to New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH 44053
