Alberta T. Brown's Obituary
Alberta T. Brown, 93, of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2014, from an ongoing battle with cancer.
Alberta was born May 15, 1921 in Buffalo, NY. Alberta moved to Lorain with her husband, “Brownie” and children when the Lorain Ford plant opened in 1958, she always said, “You go where your bread and butter is”.
She dearly loved her family and looked forward to spending time with her children, 17 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. We all will miss Grandma Brown’s famous baked beans and potato salad. Outside of her love for family, she enjoyed the Cleveland Indians, reading, bingo, and playing the lottery. Alberta will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to meet her and all will remember her wonderful smile.
Alberta retired at the age of 85 after 26 years at Mercy Hospital where she worked in the housekeeping dept. She had previously worked 16 years at the Beachcomer Motel.
Alberta is survived by sons, Gerald (Charlene) of Elyria, Fred of Lorain, Gordon (Kathleen) of Norwalk and son-in-law, Robert McQuate of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Amelia Schmidt; her husband, Albert “Brownie”; and her daughter, Anita McQuate.
There will be no visitation or service. Her family requests that you pay it forward in her honor or send memorial contributions to New Life Hospice, 5300 Kolbe Rd, Lorain, Ohio 44053.
