Alfonso "Al" Steffani Jr.'s Obituary
Alfonso "Al" Steffani Jr., 92, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Norwalk Memorial Home. Born on September 1, 1932, to Alfonso and Rosella (née Ujlaki) Steffani Sr., Al grew up in Lorain and attended Lorain City Schools.
A proud veteran, Al honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps from November 6, 1951, to November 5, 1954. During his service in the Korean War, he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two stars, the United Nations Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the Navy Occupational Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Following his military service, Al worked as a welder at U.S. Steel from 1950 to 1987. He found great joy in spending time at home with his beloved wife and their cherished pets.
Al is survived by his sisters, Lucille Winebrenner and Marilyn Pratt, as well as many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Judith Steffani; his parents, Alfonso and Rosella Steffani Sr.; and his brothers, Lawrence Steffani and Phillip Steffani.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral center. Interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
