Allan W. Boroski's Obituary
Allan W. Boroski, 90, passed away peacefully in the home he built and loved in South Amherst, Ohio, on Monday, May 18, 2026.
Born in Lorain, Ohio on August 4, 1935, Allan was the son of Edward and Kathleen Boroski. He graduated from Lorain High School in 1954 and later attended Miami University. As a teenager, Allan worked alongside his father at Boroski Shell on West Erie Avenue in Lorain, beginning a lifelong career rooted in hard work, dedication, and service to his community.
In 1957, Allan enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served in Wertheim, Germany as a helicopter specialist crew chief and mechanic. During his military service, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia “Pat” (née Schnitzler). Together they embraced adventure, touring Europe while Allan served overseas and Pat taught kindergarten on the Army base.
After returning home from Germany, Allan resumed work at Boroski Shell as a mechanic until his father’s retirement in 1974. Allan and Pat then purchased the business from Shell Oil Company and faithfully operated it together until Allan’s retirement in 1997. Through the years, Allan became known not only as a skilled mechanic and businessman, but as a kind and dependable friend to many customers and neighbors.
Above all else, Allan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was deeply involved in the lives of his four children and treasured the memories made during yearly family trips to the family cottage in Boulter, Canada. Allan loved sports and the outdoors, enjoying volleyball, hockey, golf, boating, and cheering on Cleveland’s teams — the Indians/Guardians, Browns, and Cavaliers.
Retirement opened a new chapter of adventure for Allan and Pat. For the next 26 years, they traveled extensively throughout the United States in their motor home and especially cherished their winters spent at their home in River Ranch, Florida.
Allan was a practicing Catholic all his life. He was previously a member of St. Anthony’s and St. Mary’s in Lorain, and most recently a member of Nativity BVM Church in South Amherst.
Allan is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Patricia; daughters, Wendy (Greg) Rosso and Alane (Malcolm) White; sons, Mark (Judy) Boroski and Paul Boroski; six grandchildren, Brett, Jenna, Kaylene (Ray), Russell, Cory (Aubrey), and Brittany (Hayden); and five great-grandchildren, Amelia, Eloise, Sophia, Jason and Jarett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Kathleen Boroski, and his brother, William Bower.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, 333 South Lake Street, South Amherst, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Rev. Father Timothy O’Connor, Pastor, officiating. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
