Alvaretta Hering's Obituary
Alvaretta C. Hering (nee Sage), age 86, lost her 4 year battle with cancer on Sunday, January 15, 2012. She was under the care of New Life Hospice and passed away at home with her three daughters at her side (Lynette, Jeanette, and Kimberly).
Born on December 18, 1925, she was the beloved daughter if the late Edward and Lavina (nee Savage) Sage. She lived in Lorain her entire life and graduated from Lorain High School.
Alvaretta retired in April, 1990 from the State of Ohio Liquor Control Agency. She enjoyed working puzzles and spending time with her beloved and devoted cat, Cody.
She is survived by her 7 children – Dennis Hering of Punta Gorda, FL; Lynette Masony (Howard), of Avon Lake; Jeanette Hering of San Jose, CA; Paul Hering, of Vermilion; Kimberly Hering, of Lorain; and 14 Grandchildren and several Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Virginia Day and her 3 brothers, Leonard, Philip and Joseph Sage.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 20, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Closing prayers will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Funeral Center followed by Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Michael Denk, Associate Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
