Alyssa Anne Feldkamp's Obituary
Alyssa Anne Feldkamp, 26 of Lorain passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 after a courageous battle with autoimmune liver disease.
Alyssa was born in Lorain, Ohio on September 18, 1987, the daughter of Ron and Caroline Feldkamp (nee Murray).
Alyssa loved her family with all her heart, was gifted with the ability to make people laugh in every situation, and her spirit and story inspired the hearts of the entire community. She put her own battle aside and dedicated her time helping those battling addiction. Alyssa was a generous and loving friend, gifted with the ability to make every person feel special and she enjoyed the fellowship and friendships that she built while giving back to AA. She also worked with special needs children as a bus monitor and was especially fond of children with autism. She magically connected with children and they naturally loved her.
Alyssa’s battle with autoimmune liver disease began at the age of nine and she was the recipient of a donated liver at the age of 16. Her determination was endless and her journey inspired her to be a strong advocate and voice for organ donation. Her wish is that her friends and family continue to help to drive awareness of the need for organ donation so that others may reap the benefit of a life-saving transplant. Alyssa was an avid reader and creative and talented writer, and her joy came from spending time and laughing with her family and friends. She loved to travel and especially loved her trips to the beach especially St. Simons Island in Georgia, and her grandparents cottage on Lac Moore in Latulipe, Quebec.
Alyssa is survived by her loving parents Ronald and Caroline (nee Murray) Feldkamp of Lorain; her brother Jonathan (JT) of Columbus and sister Natalie of Tremont; grandparents Ronald and Elaine (nee Afrates) Feldkamp of Lorain, grandmother Anne (nee Gosselin) Murray of Lorain; her aunts and uncles Jamie (nee Feldkamp) and Matt McKeon of St. Simons Island, GA, Barb (nee Murray) and Dan Scrofano of Lorain, Eileen (nee Murray) and Ken Mann of Columbia Station, Eddie and Tamara (nee Schulin) Murray of Massilon; and her cousins Danny Scrofano, Anne ( nee Scrofano) and Jozef Kolenda and Anthony Scrofano, of Lorain; Cicily Murray, Eddie Liam Murray and Casey Murray of Massilon; Erin McKeon of Florence, SC and Kelly McKeon of St. Simons Island, GA; and dear friends Carley Hardway, Alana Kitchin and Alan Revercomb. She was preceded in death by her loving grandfather Edward Murray of Lorain whom she loved and missed dearly.
Above everything else Alyssa loved her family - her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. She did not wish for those who loved her to mourn but instead to celebrate the life that she lived. In memory of Alyssa the family will be establishing a memorial fund, to help realize Alyssa’s dream of helping others through random acts of kindness.
The family is very grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Cleveland Clinic, especially to Dr. Vera Hupertz, who never left her side on her last day.
Also, Alyssa would like to encourage each of you to become an organ donor.
The Feldkamp family will receive friends on Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral center. Rev. Fr. Robert Glepko, Pastor of Nativity BVM Catholic Church, will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
