Amanda Horinek's Obituary
Amanda E. Horinek (nee Whitaker), age 84, of Lorain, passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Avon Oaks Nursing Home.
Born May 13, 1928 in Lorain to the late Charles and Harriet (nee Ferner) Whitaker, she lived in Lorain her entire life.
Amanda enjoyed playing pinochle, and doing jigsaw puzzles and word searches.
She is survived by her sons, Anthony Michael (Pamela) Horinek, of Georgia, and William Dean Horinek Sr., of Lorain; her daughters, Ellen (Arthur) Mead and Stephania Kathleen (Jerry) Belcher, both of Lorain; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; her sister, Margie Biro, of Lorain; her sister-in-law, Florence Horinek; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Anthony Matthew Horinek, in 1993; her daughter-in-law, Jodi Rae Horinek; her brothers, Harry Burton Whitaker and William Whitaker; her sister-in-law, Eleanor Whitaker; her niece, Shelley Smith and her great-nephew, Connor William Whitaker; and several other family members.
The Horinek family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral center. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
