Andrew Zilka's Obituary
Andrew Zilka, age 30, of Elyria passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017. He was born on August 17, 1986 in Lorain, Ohio to Thomas and Deborah (nee Carson) Zilka.
Andrew graduated from Admiral King High School in 2003. He was employed by Lifecare Ambulance and the Sheffield Township Fire Department as a Lieutenant, Firefighter, EMT, and Paramedic for the past 12 years and a member of the Urban Search and Rescue Team for 6 years. Andrew also worked as a manager for COSTCO Tire Center and Best Buy.
He enjoyed golfing, gadgets, listening to and attending polka festivals, everything Disney. He also loved being an Eagle Scout. Most of all Andrew loved is job as a Firefighter- Paramedic. Helping people was his greatest gift. Andrew made his career saving lives and he continued to do so after he passed away by donating his organs to Life Banc to save the lives of many more.
Andrew is survived by his parents, Thomas and Deborah Zilka; sister, Emily (Scott) Sanders; and his niece, Isabelle Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Irene Zilka and Victor and Pat Carson.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Private family funeral services will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made in memory of Andrew to them as they will be making donations to several organizations in his memory.
