Ann Dunn's Obituary
Ann K. Dunn (nee Rowan), age 87, of Vermilion passed away February 23, 2013 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
She was born on December 12, 1925 in Lorain, Ohio to John and Barbara (Sabolich) Rozankovic and was a 1943 graduate of Lorain High School. In 1959 she graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.
Ann spent her career teaching in the Lorain City Schools, she taught elementary grades at Meister Road, Charleston and Lowell Schools for 35 years, retiring in 1988. She was a former member of AAUW and Lorain Retired Teachers.
She had zest for life and passion for adventure and loved to laugh. Her true passion was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Ann enjoyed the beauty of nature, gardening, birding and spending time along Lake Erie at Linwood Park. She was an avid quilter and talented seamstress, who appreciated beautiful clothing and fabrics. Traveling, playing cards and games were amongst some of her favorite pastimes. While she was in her early twenties she actually christened a ship while working at American Ship Building in Lorain.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John; children, Joanne (Pete) Knox, of Hudson,OH Robert Dunn, of Findlay, OH, Thomas (Laurie) Dunn, of Troy, MI and Nancy Getter, of Mason, OH; grandchildren, Sarah and Laurel Knox, Chelsea, Erin and Alexander Dunn, Trevor and Maya Dunn and Claire and Harry Getter; great-granddaughter, Nora Bond; sister, Mary A. Yug, of Lorain, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Barbara Rozankovic; and brothers, Steve, Joseph and John Rowan.
The Dunn family will receive friends on Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral center.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made in memory of Ann to a charity of your choice.
