Ann Marie Schieferstein's Obituary
Ann Marie Schieferstein, age 83, of Amherst passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was born on July 30, 1930 in Lakewood, Ohio to Thomas Reed and Mary Helen (nee Moran) Hutchison. Ann worked as a cashier for the Meyer Goldberg Grocery Stores at three of their Lorain locations until their closing. She then went on to work in the koke plant for U.S. Steel. Upon leaving the steel plant she was employed as a manager for Cards and Such at Midway Mall, Elyria for 17 years, retiring in 1992.
Ann was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, in Amherst where she was very active, participating and chairing many of the Church’s organizations. She was multitalented with many interest and hobbies. Cake decorating, crocheting, gardening and cooking were among her talents. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Bruce (Sharon) Schieferstein, of Amherst and Larry Robert Schieferstein, of Amherst; her daughter, Carla (James) Morris, of Buckeye, Arizona; grandchildren, Michelle Lopez, Aaron Lopez, Adam Lopez, Jimmy Morris, Dennis Morris, Dale Morris, Stacey Bochey, Kayla Schieferstein and Larry Schieferstein Jr.; great-grandmother of many; brother, Richard (Ilene) Hutchinson, of Strongsville; and her sister, Barbara (Kevin) Tobin, of Pennsylvania.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Schieferstein; parents, Thomas and Mary Hutchinson; brothers, Thomas Jr., Andrew and Joseph Harry; and sisters, Marian “Mickey” Trozzi and Corinne “Corky” Spaganlo.
The Schieferstein family will receive friends on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where funeral services wil be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. David Plant, Interim Minister, of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, Amherst.
