Ann Mary Tomasic's Obituary
Ann Mary Tomasic (nee Snyder), 79, of Lorain passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at New Life Hospice on Monday, December 9, 2013. She was born on September 7, 1934 and remained a lifelong resident of Lorain. Ann was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in 1952.
Ann was employed in the Administrative offices of the former St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain prior to raising her family. She was a devoted member of St. Peter Parish and former member of St. Mary Parish.
Ann was a loving wife and mother who devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed reading, gardening and cooking and especially watching her grandsons play football, soccer, basketball and baseball from the time that they were 5 years old until they graduated from college. She also shared her grandson’s passion for Cleveland sports especially the Cleveland Indians.
Ann volunteered countless hours working on the various levies in support of Murray Ridge Center where her daughter Laura attended school.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, James Tomasic; daughters, Paula Tomasic Cantu and Laura Tomasic, of Lorain. She also leaves grandchildren, James Cantu and David Cantu; and her sister, Jean Snyder Rohner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Clara (nee Mittendorf) Snyder and brothers, Donald, Stanley, Glenn and James.
The Tomasic family will receive friends on Thursday, December 12, 2013 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be said on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Rev. Fr. Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made in memory of Ann to Friends of Murray Ridge Center, New Life Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
