Anna Dyriw's Obituary
Anna Dyriw (nee Miskewycz), age 74, of Amherst, died Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at O’Neill Healthcare, North Ridgeville, following a lengthy illness.Born April 8, 1950, in Liege, Belgium, she immigrated to the United States settling in Cleveland. Anna grew up in Parma, graduating from Parma Senior High School. In 1997, the year she married Walter Dyriw, she moved to Amherst.Anna worked as a secretary in the medical and law fields for over 20 years, retiring in 2015. During that time, she also served as a school bus driver for Amherst Exempt Village Schools for 5 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Lorain.Anna had a passion for gardening, particularly for planting, growing, and arranging flowers. She was also skilled in quilting, crocheting, knitting, and cooking, indicating a deeply creative and nurturing nature.Besides her husband of 54 years, she is also survived by her son, George (Marivel) Dyriw of Amherst; and a brother, Ihor Miskewycz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Helen (nee Rij) Miskewycz. She also leaves behind her adoring dogs, Kody and Kona, and cats, Simba and Nala.The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Anna’s funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Very Rev. Mitered Archpriest Fr. Steven Paliwoda, pastor of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, will officiate.
