Anne Godlewski's Obituary
Anne Godlewski (nee McDonald), age 56, of Lorain passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at University Hospital, Cleveland after suffering from an aneurysm.
She was born on November 28, 1960 in Chardon, Ohio to Tom and Joan (nee Walsh) McDonald and graduated from Notre Dame Academy in 1979. Upon her graduation from high school she attended Kent State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. While at Kent State she was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and met her future husband there. She later earned her Master’s Degree from Bowling Green State University.
Anne began her teaching career at St. Mary’s School in Lorain she later went on to teach at Lakeview Academy for many years and has been with Admiral King Elementary School as a kindergarten teacher since 2012. She was a loving, caring teacher who developed a special bond with her students.
She was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Bengals fan, and enjoyed traveling, and collecting sea glass. She enjoyed the peace and serenity of watching sunsets and bonfires on her beach. Anne will be remembered fondly for the amazing hostess she was. From her cooking skills to her ability to make every get together a special event she had a way of making everyone feel welcome. Her family was her greatest love and spending time listening and laughing with them is what made her happy.
Anne was planning on retirement and upon her retirement her dream and goal was to begin an organization that would provide rocking chairs and books to expecting mothers in need.
Anne is survived by her husband of 33 years, Tom; son, T.J. Godlewski, of Columbus; daughter, Meg Godlewski, of Lakewood; brothers, Tim (Mary) McDonald, Todd (Michelle) McDonald, Bart (Carol) McDonald, Barry McDonald, Mike (Regina) McDonald, and Ned (Chris) McDonald.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Joan McDonald; and her father and mother-in law, Walt and Marge Godlewski.
The Godlewski family will receive friends on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral &Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 11th. at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, 418 W. 15th. Street, Lorain. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Rev. Father Robert Glepko, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
