Anthony Alan Davidson's Obituary
Anthony Alan “Al” Davidson, 64, of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Anchor Lodge Retirement Community following a lengthy illness.
Born on March 24, 1951 in Portsmouth, Ohio, to Jerry and Marilyn (nee Johnson) Davidson. He came to Lorain in 1969 and attended Lakeview and Irving elementary schools. After graduating from Lorain High School in 1969, he spent time in Boca Raton, Florida and Connecticut areas. Al returned to the Cleveland area in 1980 where he worked as the night manager at Mr. Z’s, a trendy restaurant in Cleveland. He then worked for 14 years at Bob Evan’s in Lorain.
Al was a figure and speed skater and had won several awards during the Ice Carnivals at Lakeview Park in Lorain. He took figure skating lessons from Kurt Oppelt who was a 1956 Olympian pair’s figure skater. He also swam with the Oak Hills Swim Team and Carousel Swim Team for 11 years. He was a member of the A.A.U. Swim Team known as the Lake Erie Coke’s in the Cleveland Area.
Al was an avid Ohio State University Buckeye’s fan and Cleveland Cavaliers fan. He was also the “go to” person when it came to sports trivia.
Surviving is his mother, Marilyn Davidson of Lorain; sister, Lisa Davidson of Lorain; an aunt, Georgann Sohn of Manhattan, New York; and his pet, yorkie, Mr. Kirby.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Davidson in 2013; and a cousin, George Stephen Clark.
A memorial reception will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the gathering center at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
