Antonio Rosario's Obituary
Antonio Rosario age 92 of Amherst passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021, at St. Mary of the Woods in Avon. He was born on August 20, 1929, in Ciales, Puerto Rico to Antonio and Victoria (nee Arroyo) Rosario. He graduated from Horace Mann High School in Puerto Rico in 1948 and then went on to continue his education at the Puerto Rico School of Commerce.
He served in the Army National Guard Company D, 295th. Regiment Infantry Division from 1947-1948. He retired in 1987 from U.S. Steel after 36 years of service.
Antonio was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, United States Steel of America Union Local 1104, and the Puerto Rican Home. He served as president of Club Benefico in 1962.
He enjoyed music, traveling with his family, dinners with his wife, coin collecting, swimming, and gardening. He kept his lawn and home immaculate. He was a strong supporter of many local causes and volunteered for the Board of Elections with his wife.
Antonio is survived by his children, Dr. Tony (Joyce) Rosario, of Avon, and Neysa E. Rosario, of Lorain; grandchildren, Amanda Nicole Rosario, of New Jersey, Matthew Ian (Gloria) Rosario, of New Jersey, and Michael Anthony Rosario, of Utah; great-granddaughter, Ruby Lee Rosario, of New Jersey; brother, Felix Rosario, brothers-in -law, Carlos I. Montes Sr., and Jose Colon Jr.; sisters-in-law, Carmen Rosario, and Ana Rosa Colon Rouras; and many nieces and nephews that he loved so much.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Carmen D. Rosario Colon, in 2014; parents, Antonio and Victoria; siblings, Gloria A. Rosario -Vargas, Ana L. Rosario -Gonzalez, Hector L. Rosario, Dorin Rosario-Pagan, Rosa Rosario- Morales, Sara Rosario Gonzalez, Evelio Rosario, and Ester Rosario- Montes; and sisters-in-law, Olga Colon Parilla, and Virginia Rosario.
The family would like to give special thanks to his wonderful caregivers, Reyna I. Javier-Rivera, Catalina Sanchez, and Babe Morsher.
Family will receive friends on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, OH. Closing prayers will be said at 8:45 a.m. in the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain. Rev. Father William Thaden, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
