Archie M. Mitchell's Obituary
Archie Mayo Mitchell of Lorain, Ohio, went to be with his heavenly Father Sat., Feb. 8, 2014.
Born September 2, 1936, in Emmett, he was a son of Prince and Bessie Kennedy Mitchell, both preceding him in death, along with brother, David Mitchell, preceding him in death in 1952.
Surviving are his two sons, Eddie of Arizona and his wonderful special son, Stacy Arch, of Berlin Heights, Ohio; daughter, Debbie (David) Kuehn, granddaughter, Emily and grandson Jacob, all of Circleville, Ohio; daughter Traci (James) Wilson, grandsons, Trenton and Brady of Berlin Heights, Ohio; daughter, Beth (Rob) Rahrig, granddaughters Katelyn and Hannah of Bealton, Va., and his former-wife Betty Mitchell, of Berlin Heights. He is also survived by his brother, Bill (Brenda) Mitchell of Chillicothe, Ohio, and sisters, Peggy Mitchell-Mosley of Madison, Judy Preston (Bob) Schiff of Columbus, Ohio, and Patricia (James) Jordan of Amherstdale, along with many special nieces and nephews, and special cousins, Paul and Francis Jones Kennedy and Jimmy Jones.
He worked on the Tipple for Island Creek Coal Company when he was drafted and spent a year in Kentucky and a year in West Point, N.Y. He was proud to be a Buffalo Soldier. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Lorain after 33 years. He was a great father and so good to his friends and family. He loved going home to the Elk Creek reunion to see his childhood friends. He loved playing guitar with Edward Earnest and James Jordan.
He never lost his love for West Virginia, at his choice he will be cremated and put in the West Virginia ground that he loved.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in West Virginia, with inurnment at Highland Memory Gardens, Logan county, West Virginia.
