Arnold A. Novak's Obituary
Arnold A. Novak, age 61, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
Born on March 14, 1953 in Cleveland, Arnold grew up in Olmsted Falls. He later moved to Lorain and lived there the past 40 years.
Throughout the years, Arnold worked many trades including being an auto mechanic and truck driver. A racer in his younger years, Arnold enjoyed all kinds of car racing from drag racing to circle tracks. For over 20 years, he followed his passion of racing and worked at the Lorain County Speedway as the Safety Crew Chief. He retired from there in 2012.
He enjoyed and was known for his cooking ribs and liked all kinds of comedy. Through the years, he was also respected and thought of as a father figure to many children.
He is survived by his long time companion, Nancy Schmidt; his son, John (Melanie), of Lorain; his daughters, Missie Novak (William Garner), of Elyria and Jeni Novak, of Lorain. He was the much loved Papa of 12 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, George (Karen), of Cleveland and his sister, Loretta West, of Brookpark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Natalie, his son, Brian and his brother, Bob.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 20th from 5 pm until the time of funeral service at 7:30 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst.
