Aurelia Sylvia Imbrogno's Obituary
Aurelia Sylvia Imbrogno (nee Medaglia) age 88, a lifelong resident of Lorain passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home.
She was born on August 3, 1927 to John and Anna (nee Greco) Medaglia and was a graduate of Lorain High School Class of 1945 B.
Aurelia worked for many years in the accounting department of Carek Florist until she was married. She was a volunteer for 50 years at the Cleveland VA Hospital in Brecksville and the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, receiving an award for over 3000 hours of volunteer service. She also served as a State Representative on the Volunteer Advisory Board.
She was an extremely active lifelong member of the Lorain Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary where she held all of the offices and served as Commander for 10 different terms and also served as Commander for the 5th District for 12 years. Aurelia was a member of the Italian American Veterans Auxiliary, serving as State President and a member of the Church of St. Peter, Lorain.
Sewing, arts and crafts, playing the piano and traveling brought her much enjoyment.
She is survived by her children, Len (Ginger) Imbrogno, Cathie (Marty) Williamson and Patti (Don) Murphy; 3 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Aurelia was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Imbrogno, in 2006; her parents, John and Anna Medaglia; brother, Frank Medaglia; a her sister, Rose M. Henry.
The Imbrogno family will receive friends on Friday, November 6, 2015 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be held on Saturday, November 7th. at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
