Barry E. Hammond's Obituary
Barry E. Hammond, age 51, of Berlin Heights, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Promedica Memorial Hospital, Fremont, Ohio.
He was born on April 19, 1965 in Lorain, and resided in Elyria for most of his life, until finally moving to Berlin Heights 11 years ago. Barry was a 1983 graduate of Elyria West High School and also attended Lorain County JVS. Barry was a plumber for over 20 years with DM Plumbing and Heating. Most recently, he worked for Schalk Mechanical.
Spending time with his family was precious to Barry and his children were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed working on projects around the house and building things. Just as long as he was using his hands to do something, he was happy. One of his biggest passions was lending a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors. Barry enjoyed following Ohio State sports and the Cleveland Indians, and even golfing for himself.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Isabell (nee MacDougall), his beloved children; Justin and Amelia, his mother, Irene (nee Hackner), brothers; Ron (Dottie), of Elyria and Kriss (Mary), of Jupiter, FL, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The Hammond family will receive friends on Friday, March 17, from 4 – 8 pm, in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, at 11:00 am. Pastor Bill Kopas will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst. Family and friends will gather for food and fellowship immediately afterwards at Fellowship Baptist Church, 5046 Broadway, Lorain, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are encouraged to made to The Hammond Family Fund.
