Beatrice "Bea" Riggar's Obituary
Beatrice “Bea” Riggar (nee Stipa) passed away in her home at Central Village in Amherst on June 1, 2016 at the age of 87 after a courageous battle against cancer.
Bea was born on July 18, 1928, in Connellsville, PA where she met and married Dewey Riggar, Jr. They moved to Lorain, OH in 1948 where she lived for over 40 years before moving to Amherst, OH following her retirement from Rini-Rego/Giant Eagle.
Bea had faithfully attended St. Anthony Church in Lorain before transferring to St. Joseph Church in Amherst. She was an active member of Italian American Veterans (IAV) for over 25 years.
Survivors include her three children: Donna Cavin of Elyria, Nancy (Russell) Beach of Vermilion, Richard Riggar of Elyria and grandchildren Sandy Beach (Brian Wolfe), Barbara Andrews (Chris). Michael Cavin (Kristen), Aaron Cavin (Dateesha), Valerie Milas, James Riggar (Sheila), Zachary Walton and Lucas Riggar; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Riggar, Jr. in 1973 and 6 siblings.
A funeral mass will be held in St. Joseph's Church chapel, 200 St. Joseph Church Dr. in Amherst, on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. preceded by visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. which will include honors by Italian American Veterans (IAV). Lunch will be served in St. Joseph Hall following mass. Private internment will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery in Avon, OH. The Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, is assisting the family with arrangements.
