Betty Jane Ferner's Obituary
Betty Jane Ferner, age 82, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain. She was born on August 13, 1942, in Lorain, Ohio, to Joseph and Marcella (nee Csontos) Papp. Betty graduated from Lorain High School in 1960. She worked as a secretary for Bob Pryor at City Bank and for the Mayor of Lorain, Woodrow W. Mathna, and later worked at Januzzi Shoes in Lorain.
After marrying Edward Ferner, Betty dedicated her life to being a full-time homemaker, raising her children with love and care. She was known for her passion for doing word search puzzles, her love for her grandchildren and puppy Clyde. and her fondness for collecting penguins.
Betty is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Edward; children, Gregory (Dena) Ferner, Teresa (Aaron) Sachs, and Trevor Ferner; grandchildren, Pierce, Melina, and Anya Ferner; brother, Donald (Pamela) Papp; sister-in-law, Deborah Hawthorne; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marcella Papp.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 16, 2025, from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Private burial will take place at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Betty's memory to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or to Easter Seals.
