Betty N. Pluhar's Obituary
Betty N. Pluhar (nee Stevens), of Grafton, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the age of 57. Betty was born on August 24, 1967, in Ironton, Ohio, and moved to Lorain at a young age when her father took a job with Ford Motor Company. She moved to Grafton a couple years ago.
Betty was a 1985 graduate of Southview High School and went on to earn her associate degree in Nursing from Lorain County Community College in 1988. For over 22 years, she was a dedicated medical assistant for Dr. Jennifer Carandang, where her compassion and dedication shone brightly. To Betty, her patients were never just patients; they were friends. Her warmth and caring nature made her a beloved figure in the office, and she took joy and pride in helping others.
Outside of her career, Betty’s heart belonged to her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her world. She cherished attending their sporting events and spending quality time with them. Betty also had a love for crafting, reading, and traveling—especially trips to the beach, where she found relaxation and joy.
Her loving and compassionate spirit will be missed deeply by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched.
Betty is survived by her husband of 13 years, Timothy J. Pluhar; daughters, Alyssa (Dre) Laney and Hayley (Spencer Ferguson) Vrbancic; grandkids, Baby Dre, Amelia, Josie, Zari and Mani; mother, Sharlene (nee Slone); brother, Chris Stevens; nephew, Justin; and her sister/best friend for over 50 years, Denise Schudel.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Vrbancic and her father, Michael W. Stevens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 3-7 pm at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Her funeral service will be on Friday at 11:00 am also in the Funeral Center. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, OH.
