Beula "Bea" Giacobbe's Obituary
Beula V. "Bea" Giacobbe (née White), age 95, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, September 23, 2024. Born on December 3, 1928, in Washington, PA, Bea moved to Lorain County in 1959, where she spent much of her life as a dedicated caregiver and community member.
A compassionate soul, Bea worked for many years as a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lorain, where she eventually retired. Even after retirement, her devotion to helping others continued, as she volunteered her time at the hospital, showing her unending dedication to her profession and community.
Bea was a devoted member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Lorain, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She also found joy in supporting her sons as a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack #329, always ensuring that family remained her top priority. To Bea, family was a constant source of love and pride, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
A true sports enthusiast, Bea was a passionate fan of the Cleveland Indians/Guardians and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Her love for the Buckeyes was so great that she would wear their coordinating jerseys depending on whether it was a home or away game, cheering them on with enthusiasm.
Bea will be remembered for her warmth, her sense of humor, and her selflessness. She was an extraordinary woman who touched the lives of many through her kindness and generosity, leaving behind a legacy of love and service.
She is survived by her children, Carol Smith of Kokomo, IN, John (Jan) Giacobbe, of Dublin, OH, Robert (Beth) Giacobbe, of Huron, Anthony (Lynne) Giacobbe, of Avon and Paul (Lisa) Giacobbe, of Kettering, OH; grandchildren, Lauren, Angela, Robert, Rachael, Jessica, Anne Marie, Alexandra, Olivia, Patricia, Edward, Kevin and Carrie; her 21 great grandchildren; her cherished sister-in-law, Eileen Hertzog as well as her many nieces & nephews. Bea will also be missed dearly by her caregiver, companion and very close friend, Annette Goetz.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, in 1997, Robert Giacobbe; parents, Newton & Alice (nee Armstrong) White and siblings, William, James, Robert, Eileen, Jeannie and Geraldine.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 4 – 7 pm at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Friends will also be received on Saturday, September 28th, from 9:00 am until the time of her funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1305 E. Erie Avenue, Lorain.
