Rev. Bill Dickey's Obituary
Rev. Bill Dickey, a beloved member of the Lorain, Ohio community, was born on June 6, 1965, and passed away on August 26, 2023. Bill spent most of his life in Lorain and was a proud graduate of Clearview High School in 1983. He went on to achieve a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies, a testament to his unwavering dedication to his faith.
From the tender age of 17, Bill began his journey at a rent-to-own store, starting as a delivery person and working his way up to the role of manager. However, it was in the pulpit that Bill’s true passion lay. Since 1997, he devoted himself to the service of others as a pastor, consistently striving to make people’s days better.
Bill had an incredible ability to bring joy into people’s lives. He had an infectious sense of humor and was renowned for his infamous jokes, always ready to make people smile and laugh. Beyond his spiritual calling, Bill was an ardent basketball enthusiast.
In addition to his love for basketball, Bill had a deep appreciation for music. He enjoyed listening to, playing, singing, and even writing music. His passion led him to create a few professional CDs and be part of a band. He was an explorer at heart, often alongside his loving wife, as they ventured into places rich in history, from old buildings to churches and even various cemeteries.
Bill was not only a pastor but a devoted family man. He enjoyed playing video games with his son and grandson, passing on his light-heartedness and goofiness to the next generation. He had a special place in his heart for his little dog, “Bell Bell” and was undoubtedly the best grandpa anyone could ever wish for.
Rev. Bill Dickey will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unwavering faith that will continue to inspire those he touched. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we take solace in the knowledge that he is now at peace, having left an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone he met. It will never be forgotten by those who loved him best that when someone would ask, “How are you today?” that his most favorite response was, “If I was any better, I’d be you.”
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 39 years, Bernadette J. DeCredico, children; Charissa Dickey & Billy (Rachel) Dickey, grandsons; Alex, Liam and Derek, his mother, Nancy (nee Sullivan), step-mother, Jean Dickey, his sister, Laura (Tim) Hite and 3 nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Dickey.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 3 – 7 pm in Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, also in the funeral center, at 11:00 am. To send a message of sympathy to the family, please visit www.dovinreberjones.com.
