Bill Kallas' Obituary
Bill Kallas, 78, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away on May 11, 2026. He was born on May 29, 1947, in Lorain, Ohio, to the late Gust and Jennie Kallas.
Bill dedicated 33 years to U.S. Steel in Lorain, where he worked as an electronic systems repairman in the rolling mill before retiring in 2000. After retirement, he spent 20 years working part-time as a maintenance man at Broadway Car Wash in Lorain, becoming a familiar and dependable presence to many.
Outside of work, Bill enjoyed cheering on Cleveland sports teams and The Ohio State Buckeyes. In his younger years, he enjoyed golfing and boxing, carrying a competitive spirit and appreciation for simple pastimes throughout his life.
He is survived by his lovely wife, Cynthia Diane Kallas (Coleman); children, Larry (Pam) Pearson, Todd (Emily Davis) Pearson, Lysa (Ben Lauper) Kallas-Wefler, and Will Kallas; grandchildren, Laryssa Pearson, Eryn Pearson, Zackary (Shelby) Wefler, Tyler Wefler, and Jacqi Wefler; great-grandchildren, Greyson and Landon; brothers, Harry Kallas and Peter (Marge) Kallas; and sister, Helen Hribar.
Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, George Kallas; sister, Mary Lou Kallas; grandson, Aaron Wefler, and his best friend Wayne Martin.
He will be privately laid to rest at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst, Ohio.
