Bonnie D. Jones Billingsley's Obituary
Bonnie D. Jones Billingsley (nee White), age 81, of Lorain, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at her home following a five year battle with lung cancer.
Born on August 29, 1934 in Lena, Mississippi, she has lived in Lorain since 1967.
Bonnie worked as a welder at the Avon Lake Ford Assembly plant for 10 years, retiring in 1997. Prior to that, she worked as a nurse’s aide at Good Samaritan Nursing Home.
In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, flower gardening, baking, fruit and vegetable canning and collecting butterflies and porcelain dolls.
She is survived by her husband of 24 years and caregiver, James; her sons, A. Myron Jones, of Meridian, MS, E. Travis Jones, of Dayton; her daughters, Gwen Farley Brown, of Vermilion and Rena Prestage, of Forest, MS; her step-children, James R. Billingsley, of PA, Jeffrey Billingsley, of Elyria and Joseph Billingsley, of FL; 6 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and her sisters, Virginia Thrash, of Vermilion and Carolyn Vance, of Decatur, MS.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step father, Ola Ruth and Thomas Friend; her father, RJ White; her sisters, Delores Simmons and Marilyn Bishop.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to New Life Hospice Home Care, especially nurse Kathy Bennett and aide Cindy Lothridge.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Funeral services will be on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral center. Pastor Wallace Justice, of Christian Life Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
