Carlos enjoyed many things in his life. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and children. A devout Catholic, he was a faithful follower of his religion. He was a life long member of Sacred Heart Chapel starting with its beginnings on Vine Avenue to where it is now on Pearl Ave in Lorain, Ohio. He served in the US Army 65th Infantry as a young man in Puerto Rico during The Korean Conflict. His Batallion, the last segregated Battalion, became known as “The Borinqueneers”. They were all recognized for their outstanding service. They were awarded The Congressional Medal of Honor. He was one of the last 3 survivors that resided in Lorain. Carlos retired from Lorain Ford Assembly Plant in 1995. He loved to sing. He was a member of The Trio Puerto Rico in Lorain during his early years upon moving to Lorain. He enjoyed being part of the choir at Sacred Heart. Carlos served on the Parish Council at his church. He also served as a volunteer at Mercy Hospital.
Carlos was a prolific reader. He was a fan of the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians) and the Browns. Always hoping for a World Series and Super Bowl Wins. He loved gardening and took pride in his beautiful roses. Passersby always stopped and took pictures and let him know how beautiful his roses were.
Carlos meant something to everyone, and everything to so many. He was a husband to his wife, a father to his children and a friend to all. He had a voice of an angel that shined light to our world. He gave you that look and you knew where he stood. That look of compassion just made you feel good.
