Carmela Jannuzzi's Obituary
Carmela E. “Carm” Jannuzzi, age 81, of Lorain, died on Monday, August 30, 2010 at Amherst Manor following a lengthy illness.
See was born on April 11, 1929 in Lorain to the late Pasqale and Filomena (nee Visci) DeSantis and resided in Lorain her entire life. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1947B.
Carm worked at First Federal Savings and Loan of Lorain for 12 years, retiring in 2005. She was a member of the Church of St. Peter, Lakeland Women’s Club and the Friends of the Lorain Public Library.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, sewing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by sons, Jack (Jennifer), of Amherst, and John, of Lorain; daughter, Faye (Tim) Keisman, of Amherst; her grandchildren, Amanda Jannuzzi, Jake and Vincent Podrosky, Daniel, Holly and Kevin Keisman, Stephanie (Jason) Rothman, Jordan and Jared Demich; and 3 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ryan Rothman and Alex Rivera; 2 sisters, Sue (Louis) Leone, and Tina (Alfred) Zocchi, both of Lorain and her sister-in-law, Frances Cellozzi, of Lorain; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Jannuzzi, in 1985; and her brother, Angelo DeSantis, in 1995.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 4-8 p.m. at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst, where closing prayers will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Church of St. Peter, Lorain. Fr. Chuck Henkle, OFM Conv, Parochial Vicar, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
