Carmen Maria Rosario's Obituary
Carmen Maria Rosario went home to be with the Lord on December 12, 2022, at the age of 94. She was born in Ciales, Puerto Rico on September 24, 1928, and as an adult, moved to Manhattan, New York in 1949. The following year she moved to Lorain, OH to join her husband, Evelio Rosario, who was employed at U.S. Steel at the time. Married for 59 years, together they had eight children, 22 grandchildren, and a combined total of 76 great and great-great grandchildren. Spending time with family brought her the most joy.
She made her Cursillo at Sacred Heart Chapel. She was also involved in her husband’s political campaigns for many years.
Her love for sewing, which began at the early age of 8, played an important role in her working as a seamstress in various capacities as an adult. She also loved making clothes for her children. Her other interests included gardening, cooking, baking, and ceramics. In addition, she loved to dance with her beloved husband, to the typical music of Puerto Rico. Missing their Homeland, they frequently returned to visit, eventually moving back for several years, before returning to Ohio.
Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Evelio Rosario, her son, Henry Rosario, her parents, Isabelle Lorenzana Otero and Benancio Otero, brothers Ivan Lorenzana and Richard Pineiro , sisters Judy Hernandez and Rosa Marrero, granddaughter, Lisa Alicea, great granddaughter, Milena Lopez, and son-in-law, Juan Ortiz.
