Carmine Altomare's Obituary
Carmine “Carl”Altomare, age 91, of Lorain passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014. He was born on August 10, 1923 in Niles, Ohio to Joseph and Chiarina “Carrie”(nee Dominico) Altomare and was a graduate of Lorain High School.
He enlisted with the United States Army on November 13, 1942 serving his Country during World War II. He was honorably discharged on January 1, 1946.
Carmine retired from US Steel. His true passion was gardening and landscaping. He owned and operated Carl’s Landscaping for over 30 years.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Restored Gospel, in Lorain. He enjoyed baseball, landscaping and gardening.
Carmine is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Hogue, of Elyria and Sheilah (Charles Pontious) Altomare, of California; grandchildren, Crystal (Arthur) Williams and John Hogue; great-grandchildren, Ashley Hogue and Destiny Williams; sister, Emily Demyan; and his beloved cat, “Baby”.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John Hogue.
The Altomare family will receive friends on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where services will be held on Monday following the visitation at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Nephi DeMercurio, of the Church of Jesus Christ Restored Gospel, will officiate. The Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors. Private family interment will take place at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
The family suggest contributions be made in memory of Carmine to New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH 44053.
