Carol Bowens' Obituary
Carol L. Bowens (nee Davis), age 64, of Sullivan, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at The Cleveland Clinic following a two year battle with cancer.
Born on March 28, 1950 in Elyria to the late Charles and Anne (nee Kilner) Davis, she grew up in LaGrange and graduated from Keystone High School. She lived in Amherst for over 30 years until residing in Sullivan for the past 7 years .
She attended the former Crossroads Baptist Church, in Elyria.
She was passionate about flower gardening and cultivated her flowers every winter from seeds in her basement. Come summer, the flowers beautifully decorated her yard. She also enjoyed researching family genealogy and was an avid Jeff Gordon NASCAR fan. Carol regularly liked to meet up with high school friends and have lunch. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Roy; her son, Ken (Elizabeth); of Sullivan; her grandsons, Joshua and Jacob; her brother, Jim Davis, of Florida and her sister, Barb Shinsky, of Amherst.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Dave Davis.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 15th from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:00 noon in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Pastor Gary West, of Christ Community Church, will officiate. Private interment will be held at a later date.
