Carol Ann Campana's Obituary
Carol Ann Campana, 70, passed away on Friday May 19, 2023 at New Life Hospice in Lorain, OH following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Carol was born and raised in Lorain.
Carol attended St. Peter’s Grade School and graduated from Admiral King High School in 1971. She earned a Business degree from Lorain Business College and then started her career working for her brother, Tom Campana’s accounting firm, spending 30 years as his office manager. Shortly after, she worked as the Financial Officer for the Elyria Public Library, retiring in 2019. She loved doing taxes and ran her own tax preparation service for the last 25 years. She was also the proud owner or Miller’s Gym in Lorain with Rick Miller from 1983-1995.
Carol and Rick raised their sons Ricky and Jay in Lorain. Some of her fondest memories were when she watched her children compete in various sporting events throughout their high school and college careers. She loved being a mom and her sons were her proudest achievement. Carol also adored her grandchildren and loved being called “Nonna”. Whether spending time searching for rocks, watching them play sports, following them on social media or making her famous sauce, she never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Carol had the kindest and most generous nature. She was a friend to everyone and was always there to help when needed. She was a proud supporter of numerous local and national charities with her favorite being the Disabled American Veterans.
She is survived by her son Jay Miller (Ellie), her Grandchildren, Cole and Brady Miller of Annapolis, MD, and Logan and Sydney Miller of Oberlin, OH, her siblings, Jim Campana (Maryann), Joe Campana (Jaye), Cindy Elkins (Paul), her former husband Rick Miller (Sue) of Wakeman, many nieces, nephews, and godchildren as well as all her lifelong friends close enough to be considered family.
She is preceded in death by her son Rick Miller, parents Baldo and Mary Campana and brother Thomas Campana.
Her family would like to thank everyone for their generous support and kindness during these difficult times.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 22, 2023 from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral center. Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor of St. Peter’s Church, will officiate. A private family inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain at a later date.
