Carol Ann Marincin's Obituary
Carol Ann Marincin (nee Skolnicki) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, under the compassionate care of Mercy New Life Hospice at the age of 88.
Born in Lorain, Ohio, Carol was the cherished daughter of the late Bruno and Caroline (nee Puhaly) Skolnicki. She graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1955-B, and remained proud of her Lorain roots throughout her life.
Carol dedicated more than twenty years of service to the Lorain City Clerk of Courts. After beginning her career there, she stepped away from the workforce to devote herself to raising her children before returning to the Clerk of Courts, where she continued until her retirement in 1996.
Carol found joy in life's simple pleasures and treasured the friendships she made along the way. An avid golfer and bowler, she participated in numerous leagues over the years and cherished the camaraderie they brought. She never missed an opportunity to test her knowledge while watching Jeopardy! and enjoyed spending quiet afternoons working on puzzles. Carol was also an avid reader and enjoyed visiting the library and selecting her books each month. Twice each month, she looked forward to gathering for lunch with her former co-workers and friends from her bowling league and card club. These get togethers were filled with laughter, memories, and lasting friendships.
One of Carol's favorite places was along the shores of Lake Erie, where she found peace watching the sunsets. Above all else, however, her greatest happiness came from her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her world, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Her love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will be remembered always.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Christine Caruso; her son, Daniel (Kim) Smith; her stepchildren, Joseph (Mary) Marincin, Michelle Stepp, Lisa (Keith) Nalepka, and Trisha (Mark) Kuhn; her grandchildren, Victoria (James) Caruso-Myers, Alexandrea (Michael) Steiner, Angela Caruso, Ashley (Neil) Oates, Daniel (Monica) Smith, and Courtney (Tyler) Gullett; and her seven beloved great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Daniel T. Smith; second husband, Joseph Marincin; and her parents, Bruno and Caroline Skolnicki.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral center. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Carol's memory to Helping Hands for GAND (GATAD2B-Associated Neurodevelopmental Disorder), a cause that held a special place in her heart.
