Carol J. Nickoloff's Obituary
Carol J. Nickoloff (nee Kosten), a beloved member of the Lorain community, passed away on May 30, 2023, at the age of 87 at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home in Lorain, Ohio. Carol was born on June 4, 1935, in Lorain to Joseph and Lena Kosten.
Carol's vibrant and active life began during her years at Lorain High School, where she excelled as a cheerleader and was a valued member of the Echo Club. Her dedication to her faith was evident throughout her life, and she was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Within the church, Carol contributed her time and energy to the Marian Guild, served as a Eucharistic Minister, and actively participated in the Bible Study Group.
Professionally, Carol found fulfillment working alongside her husband in their company, Nickoloff Builders, where she served as the Office Manager. She was a prominent figure within the industry and became a member of the National Association of Women in Construction, even holding the position of President for two terms. Additionally, she dedicated her time to the Home Builders Association Auxiliary, where she also served as President for two terms.
In her leisure time, Carol found joy in various activities. She cherished the moments spent with her card club, known as the Know-Name Club, engaging in friendly competition. She had a passion for gardening, relished outdoor activities, enjoyed bowling, and took pleasure in driving her beloved Mustang. Carol was an avid sports fan, faithfully supporting the Cleveland Browns, Guardians, and the Cavs. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends.
Carol is survived by her children, Jim (Kelly) Nickoloff, Dave (Mary Kay) Nickoloff, and Jennifer (Eric) Ferrero; her son-in-law, Kirk Warren; her grandchildren, Bobby (Megan) Nickoloff, Betsy (Justin) Smith, Annie (fiancee, Mike McKenna) Nickoloff, Hannah, Jacob, and Joe Gumpf, Matthew Nickoloff, and Sophia Warren; as well as her great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Oliver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her son, Bobby; her daughter, Cynthia; her parents, Joseph and Lena Kosten; and her sisters, Babe Pittak and Janet.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 5, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center located at 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral center. Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor of St. Peter's Catholic Church, will officiate the ceremony. Following the service, Carol will be laid to rest at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.
