Carol J. Sommers' Obituary
Carol J. Sommers (nee Culig), 66, of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at University Hospitals of Cleveland, following a lengthy illness. She was born December 31, 1950 in Lorain, she moved to South Amherst in 1978 then to Amherst in 1988 where she has lived since.
She graduated from Lorain High School in 1969, then from Lorain County Community College, where she received a nursing degree. Carol worked as a licensed practical nurse at Lorain Community Hospital, Carter's Nursing Home in Oberlin, Urgent Care Center in Amherst and for various doctors in the Lorain county area. She loved her cats and enjoyed spending time on Facebook. Carol also loved traveling to Disney World and to Amish country.
Surviving are her children, Shannon (Lesa) Sommers of Sullivan and Monika Sommers (Pat Fridenstine) of Amherst; grandson, Nicholas Morrow of Pleasureville, Kentucky and step-grandson, Drew Dillion of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Helen (nee Hluczyk) Culig; grandmother, Anna Kuzan and a sister-in-infancy, Patricia.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 27, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where a memorial service will be held at 7:30 P.M. The Reverend John C. Retar, Pastor of St. Frances Cabrini Parish, Lorain will officiate.
